Short version: Alien Rockstars runs entirely on your own device. We do not have accounts, we do not have a server that stores your work, and we do not collect, track or sell information about you or your children.
What we collect
Nothing is sent to us. The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no user accounts. Your coloring, your saved gallery and your settings never leave the device you are using.
What is stored on your device
The app saves a few things in your browser's own storage so it can remember where you were. This stays on your device, is not readable by us, and disappears if you clear your browser data.
- Your saved gallery — pictures you chose to save, as images in browser storage.
- Your coloring in progress — so a page looks the same when you come back to it.
- Sound and music settings — whether music is on, which tracks you picked, where a track had reached, and whether sound effects are on.
- A stylist name — only if you type one into the Style Studio ticker. Type anything you like; a first name or nickname is plenty.
- Whether Backstage has been unlocked on this device.
You can remove all of it at any time by clearing your browser's site data, or by using your device's normal browser settings.
Children
This app is made to be enjoyed by children and families. Because we collect nothing, there is nothing about a child for us to store, share or lose. We do not ask for a name, an age, an email address, a photograph or a location, and there is no way for a child to send us anything or to communicate with other users through the app.
If you type a stylist name into the Style Studio, that name stays on your device. We would suggest a first name or a made-up one.
Sharing your pictures
When you tap Share or Save, your picture is handed to your own device — to your photo library, or to your device's share sheet so you can choose an app yourself. It does not pass through us. If you then post it somewhere, that service's own privacy policy applies to what happens next.
Other services we rely on
Fonts, artwork, music and code are all served from our own site. The app loads no analytics, no advertising and no tracking from anyone. There are only three points where another company is involved at all:
- Payment. If you buy Backstage, the payment is handled by Gumroad. They process your payment details under their own privacy policy; we never see or store your card number.
- Unlocking. When you enter an unlock code, the app sends that code to Gumroad so they can confirm it is genuine. Gumroad sees the code and your device's IP address at that moment. Nothing else is sent, and it only happens if you choose to enter a code.
- Hosting. The site is served by Netlify, with Cloudflare providing DNS and delivery in front of it. Like all web hosts, both keep standard server logs. Cloudflare also adds a small script to our pages that hides our email address from spam robots.
Some of our pages link out to Amazon and to our social media profiles. Those are ordinary links — nothing loads from those companies unless you click, and once you do, that site's own policy takes over.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA give you the right to see, correct or delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase. Anything the app has saved is on your own device and under your control.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
